Long time no post, I’ll do an update post shortly with everything that’s been going on, busy times!
To get back into the swing of things, I figured I’d do a tag since I love reading tag posts or watching tag videos as I’m a super nosy person, so here is the Pregnancy Tag! I found this on YouTube since I’ve been watching a lot of pregnancy related videos lately, I got the questions from Rhiannon Ashlee’s Video Here.
1. How and when did you find out you were pregnant?
I’d been feeling really run down for a few days and since my fiancé and I were trying for a baby, I thought I’d just do one of those really cheap tests you buy in bulk on Amazon just to rule it out, otherwise, I’d be phoning my doctor on Monday. I did a test Friday 11th November 2016 around 6 pm and it came back positive!
2. How did you feel?
In denial and also so so ecstatic, I didn’t believe the test at first because the line was really faint.
3. How old were you?
4. How did you tell your partner?
Well, I did have this whole pregnancy reveal planned but after the test being so faint I didn’t know if I was or not and I couldn’t keep it to myself so I just went upstairs and told him I think I’m pregnant, he looked at the test and gave me a huge hug and said ‘That’s definitely positive!’
5. Did you wait three months to tell people? Why/why not?
I phoned my mum, my fiancé phoned his mum and I phoned my best friend after letting it sink in for a little. We told everyone else at around 8 weeks because I’d had some scares being told I could be having an ectopic, to find out it was just a threatened miscarriage so once we got the all clear it just felt right to announce it, plus if anything did go wrong (god forbid) we’d have more support around us.
6. Is this your first?
7. Do you want more?
Not sure yet, I’ll see how we manage with one, haha.
8. Your biggest craving?
Milkshake, Chocolate Fudge Milkshake to be exact, from Aldi! The other craving I had at one point was Heinz tomato cup soup, so much that I still have about 10 boxes of it in the cupboard from when Tesco had a sale, oops.
9. What’s the best part of being pregnant?
The excitement and build up of baby’s arrival, plus feeling him wiggle around and kick.
10. What’s the worst part of being pregnant?
SPD! (Or PGP as its also known) which is Symphysis Pubis Disorder (Pelvic Girdle Pain) I’ve had it since around 22 weeks and I’ve mentioned it to my midwife at my 28 week appointment as I can’t cope with it anymore, she confirmed it’s SPD/PGP and has referred me to physio for some exercises, manipulation and possibly a support belt or crutches.
11. Will you find out the gender? What do you prefer?
We did find out the gender, at a private scan which I posted about here at 17 weeks 6 days, we also had it confirmed at our 20 week scan and we’re having a boy!
I have to admit I was hoping for a girl at first as I panicked and thought – I don’t know what to do with boys, what toys to get, what they like to play with when they are little, things like that. Once we found out we were having a boy at the private scan, I didn’t care one bit – I was just so in love with the little baby moving and wiggling about on the scan screens that I forgot I even had a slight preference.
12. Do you have names picked out and what are the stories behind them?
We do have a name picked out, plus a middle name but I’m not revealing them until he’s here just in case we change our minds (I’ll give you a clue, his first name begins with R!) The middle name will definitely be Mark though, after my dad.
13. What’s your birth plan?
I haven’t got one yet and I won’t until my 34 week appointment, I do want an active labour and possibly a water birth if the midwife will let me in the birthing pool, as my midwife mentioned sometimes with SPD you have to convince the midwife on call that you can jump out of the pool in emergencies and I may not be able to get out quick enough with the pain I’m having.
14. Will you breastfeed?
I’m planning on trying, yes. If I can’t though I’m going to have to try not to beat myself up about it as I know it’s a really difficult process and I’ve heard the first 6 weeks are the toughest.
15. Do you plan to work or be a stay at home mum?
Stay at home mum, for the time being! I’m hoping to work from home somehow though as I don’t want to miss out on any milestones.
16. Will you make your own baby food?
I am planning on it yes, Purees but also planning on doing baby led weaning so a mixture really. I have been looking into the best ways to prep and store food for future reference if you have any tips leave them below!
17. Do you have nursery ideas/themes?
Yes! We haven’t started yet but we’ve decided on the main colours, Grey & White.
We’re planning on getting a Grey wallpaper with little white stars on it from B&Q, Cloud shaped shelves and hooks and possibly an accent colour of blue or lemon, we haven’t decided the accent colour yet though.
