Being a beauty blogger, I have a lot of samples – mainly from when I used to subscribe to Birchbox, and I thought while I’m using them up I’m going to start doing reviews on the products I’m testing out and whether I would purchase them in a full size or not.
I wear a lot of eyeliner so having a make-up remover that is efficient but also gentle on my eyes as there’s nothing worse than having a make-up remover sting your eyes causing you to jump around the room looking for the nearest baby wipe to help soothe your eyes because they’re watering so much they are comparable to Niagara Falls (Imagine that…).
I received this sample in a little goody bag from a blogging event I went to months ago (I blogged about it here!) and it just got stashed in my drawer full of samples (I should show you guys one day, it’s packed!) until the other day when I ran out of my Nivea Micellar water and needed something to shift my S&G Supercat eyeliner which is quite tough to remove sometimes.
Clarins claim that the Gentle Eye Makeup Remover is gentle enough for the most sensitive eyes, including contact lens wearers. Now I don’t wear contacts so I can’t vouch for that but. Sensitive? No. Not.
Refer to the jumping around the room looking for the baby wipe, yeah? This stung my eyes so badly! I don’t have a clue what caused it to sting; I didn’t soak the cotton pad in it either so it wasn’t like any of the excess cleansers got into my eye.
It also has a prominent perfume like scent, which to be honest for something that goes near your eyes I’d rather it didn’t have a scent at all.
I think for the price I’ll just stick to my usual Micellar cleanser from Nivea, it’s a lot more gentle and removes my makeup about the same as the Clarins one, without the stinging.
I rate this a 1/5 and a no-buy.
